Cindy first tried yoga eight years ago with Torey Ungerland, here at Erector Square. Since then she has worked with Ana Forrest, Angela Farmer, Tias Little, Edward Clark and Baron Baptiste, just to name a few of her favorites. Cindy completed Yoga Spirit Studios 200 hour Yoga Alliance certified Teacher Training as well as 90 hour Teacher Intensives with Shiva Rea. She has rounded out her practice taking Thai Yoga Bodywork with Jonas Westring, Partner Yoga with Elysabeth Williamson and Acroyoga and Restorative Yoga with Judith Lasater.

Cindy has had a great many teachers with many different styles but when she met Shiva Rea, she found an approach to yoga that she had not seen before. The more she explored vinyasa, the more she fell in love with it. It is creative, it builds strength and flexibility. Music playing in the background helps balance the brain and invokes many different emotions that can bring you into new places in your practice.

Cindy believes that Vinyasa teaches us many things that are useful both on and off the mat. To give just one example: Smooth transitions on the mat translate into smooth transitions in our daily lives. When we live in the flow, life runs smoother, we are happier, we get a lot accomplished and have more fun.

Cindy continues to challenge herself, taking workshops in yogic philosophy, partner yoga, drumming, Indian dance and anything else that just seems to be calling her at the time. It is her practice and her privilege to tap into and to offer these influences when teaching this class.
