sheila hageman
Sheila approaches yoga practice as an opportunity to begin again, another chance to remember who we truly are, another possibility to find joy in being fully alive. Her teaching focuses on a gentle, slow flow, and encourages students to discover their own selves and how best to nurture and express themselves.
Sheila is a certified and nationally registered yoga teacher through Integral Yoga Institute of New York City and the Yoga Alliance. She received her MFA in Creative Writing from Hunter College, CUNY, where she also graduated as valedictorian with a BA in Hunter’s Honor Program and English/Creative Writing. She now teaches Creative Writing, Composition and Literature at Hunter.
As a writer, Sheila’s interests focus on memoir, women’s issues and popular culture. She is completing her memoir, “Stripping Down,” which has been excerpted and published in Salon, Conversely and Moxie. Sheila’s continuing studies explore the connections between yoga and creativity, using yoga as an entryway into creative expression.
