After 10 years of practicing a variety of yoga styles from kripalu to vinyasa to anusara, Ellen was ready to start teaching but had not found a training program that resonated with her until she stumbled into an Ana Forrest workshop at Fresh Yoga on Practicing with Injuries. The blend of physically challenging asanas together with the deep connection to the breath and intent to heal was inspiring and combined her joy for physical movement with her desire to truly help others. Ellen completed the 200-hour Forrest Foundation Teacher Training in 2007, and is a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) with the Yoga Alliance. Ellen continues to study Forrest yoga with Heidi Sormaz and with Ana Forrest whenever possible.
Ellen also studies Restorative yoga with Judith Lasater and is a certified Relax and Renew teacher. She finds Restorative yoga truly nurturing. A side benefit of her restorative practice has been being the shift it has made in her Forrest practice. Letting go into the support the props offer in restorative allows her to more deeply let go in Forrest, creating greater space for exploration. In addition, Ellen is also certified in Ma Prenatal yoga by Mia Borgatta and Eden Fromberg, MD.
Ellen is also an Ayurvedic Nutritional counselor, certified by the American Association of Drugless Practitioners. Forrest, prenatal and restorative yoga are a perfect compliment to her Ayurvedic practice where she focuses on living well and healing through nutrition.
