Find out what what the training is all about and if it is right for you!
There are many different approaches to teacher training. Ours is to give you the tools to get in front of the classroom, knowing how to incorporate your own spirituality, trauma-informed awareness, safe sequencing, and techniques that help you become a dynamic interesting teacher.
In addition, we include the philosophy of yoga and how the yoga of today differs from its roots, discussion of the discernment between cultural appropriation and appreciation, yogic ethics, the sutras, and the chakra system, detailed pose breakdown (warm-up, standing, seated, forward bending, backbending, twisted, inverted), demoing and assisting, meditation, and working with injury and pregnancy. The experienced instructors bring decades of teacher training expertise to this event.
About the Training
This program is a 200-hour Teacher Training designed to inspire smart and effective teachers who are trauma-aware. Its focus is primarily on the skills you need to teach; to design a yoga class, to be comfortable in front of a room, and be able to lead students through a safe and effective Hatha Yoga sequence (mixed-level and vinyasa).
You will have the opportunity to:
* Find new inspiration in your practice and for your life
* Uplevel your yoga practice
* Learn to teach asana, meditation and pranayama
* Learn to teach modifications for injuries
* Learn to teach from your unique and authentic experience
* Practice clear effective speech, bringing forth your authentic voice
* The art of designing classes that balance smart sequencing, safety, tradition, and fun
* Better understand the poses and their effects
* Better understand the historical and cultural influences on yoga
* Learn how Fresh Yoga addresses working with the trauma of everyday living
* Understand how to incorporate yogic philosophy into your life and your teaching
* Learn about the business of yoga and how to begin teaching
This training will ask you to participate in asana classes, discussion, practice teaching, and reading and writing assignments. The Fresh Yoga Teacher Training, the online version, has been approved as a RYS 200 School with Yoga Alliance. When you complete the training and its required assignments, you will be eligible to register as an RYT 200 with Yoga Alliance.
What if you are not sure if you want to teach? This course can also be used to delve deeper into yogic philosophy, and all of the elements and barriers of your own practice. When you are finished you will be able to develop an efficient and useful home practice and choose teachers that are available to you wisely. Participating in the training will help you build a community of like-minded individuals to help inspire you on your path as a yoga student of life!
What is Fresh Yoga?
Fresh Yoga is a blend of wisdom from the styles of yoga that the Fresh Yoga instructors have been deeply immersed in and influenced by for the last 20 years. These styles primarily include Vinyasa, Forrest, Iyengar, Ashtanga and Tune-Up Fitness. We feel this training fills the need in the yoga community of offering training in leading a safe, effective and popular class. Many of the traditional styles of yoga have been criticized as dangerous or were developed on bodies that are unlike those of the 21st century. We take the best of tradition and update the approach by teaching teachers how to teach students to work in an intelligent way within any system, touch their students with care, create sequences that combine safety and fun, and understand the lineage and the why of what they are asking students to do.
Attendance: Attendance requirements for certification: Up to 15 minutes (giving instructor notice) late due to emergency on any given day will be allowed. You must be present for at least 90% of the entire online training during training hours. You can miss up to 10% for emergencies, but you must make up the missed hours by watching video recording and/or completing an assignment. If the segment that you missed can only be made up via private live session (as determined by instructor), there will be a make-up fee of $150 per missed hour.
