Awakening the Yogini: Extraordinary Yoga & Education for Women
Awakening the Yogini:
Extraordinary Yoga & Education for Women with Caroline Harvey
Sunday May 2nd
Erector Square Location
Part 1 9:30 AM - 12:30 PM
Part 2 2:00 PM - 4:30 PM
$45 for 1 Part, $80 for both
Yogini is a word that refers to a passionate and insightful woman who practices the mental and/or physical disciplines of yoga. A yogini's path empowers her to get, and stay, connected to her physical, emotional, mental and spiritual bodies; she is a strong woman who speaks freely and gracefully, is capable of profound transformation and growth, and is committed to vibrant all-over health. A yogini feels intuitively that she is part of a larger universe filled with energy, mystery, and adventure. She cultivates compassion, truth, and a connection with all beings and natural cycles.
Part One: Lecture and Discussion 9:30- 12:30
The morning portion of Awakening the Yogini will give insight into different aspects of the female body and life, drawing from expert sources in many schools of yoga,
bodywork, medical science & folk traditions, as well as Caroline's own dynamic path of professional work and personal healing. Topics to be covered may include:
--The Anatomy of the Female Pelvis, including Sexual Anatomy and the supporting structures of the back, legs and abdominal core
--Vibrant Emotional Health including the Theory of Scar Tissue and Healing Trauma
--The Transformational Stages of Life and the “Blood Mysteries,” including menstruation, ovulation, pregnancy and menopause
--The Subtle Energy Body including the Chakras, the Meridians and Accessing and Demystifying Kundalini
We’ll discuss together what "healthy" really is, address concerns about urinary health, organ stability, sexual pleasure, pre- and post-natal health, and menstrual health questions about irregularity and endometriosis. We’ll talk through the yogic prescriptions that can help restore equilibrium and prevent new injury or discomfort, and you’ll get tools for continuing to build your yoga practice for life…on and off the mat. There will be space for your questions, emotional support and voluminous belly laughter!
The Lecture portion of Awakening the Yogini is designed as a great lead-in to the afternoon Yoga Practice, but it may also be attended on its own. Bring a notebook, your yoga mat, maybe a light snack and/or water, and wear comfortable yoga clothes. Your fee for the Lecture includes your Awakening the Yogini written materials and manual.
Part Two: Yoga Practice 2:00 - 4:30 PM
Women in all stages of life and practitioners at all levels of yoga experience are encouraged and invited to participate in this women only yoga class.
Caroline will guide you through an inspiring yoga flow that will draw from Forrest, Yin and Restorative techniques, as well as Caroline’s own work in
Deep Flow Yoga. Discover how conscious core connection can awaken an imbalanced or painful pelvis, how deep breathing can help clear tension and
trauma from your body, and how a connection to your natural rhythms of breath, blood, emotion and energy can empower you to stand strong in your
feminine nature, desire and life purpose. Expect to experience your physical, emotional and energetic anatomy in a whole new way, a way that will
leave you feeling energized, refreshed and deeply connected. The practice space will be safe, comfortable and accepting.
The Yoga Practice portion of Awakening the Yogini is designed as a follow-up to the morning lecture, but can also be taken on it’s own. Bring water, your yoga mat, and any special props you need for practice. It is suggested that you come on an empty or only lightly-full stomach.

She feels incredibly lucky and wholeheartedly indebted to the many pilgrims, elders, family members and mentors who have led the way and lit her path.
Caroline laughs when recalling that her imaginary friend as a little girl was the moon. One of her other earliest memories is of leading a meditation about "floating on the ocean" for a group of first grade girlfriends at a slumber party. She’s been collecting feathers since pre-school, and she hopes never to stop talking to the sky.
